NEUROLOGY

The department of Neurology at SKS offers expertise in diagnosis and treatment for patients suffering from diseases of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. Over the past several years, we have seen an explosion of new knowledge regarding the working of human brain and nervous system. These scientific advances have led to new ways to diagnose neurological disease, new methods for treating previously untreatable diseases, and new insights into the effective management of stroke, dementia, epilepsy, Parkinsonism, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Tourette’s syndrome and other neuromuscular diseases.

  • Stroke (Arterial, Venous)
  • Epilepsy (Seizures, Fits)
  • Neuropathy
  • Myopathies
  • G B Syndrome ( AIDP)
  • Dementia (Memory Loss)
  • Degenerative Diseases of Brain (PSP, NPH,MSA)
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Movement Disorders Like cerebral palsy
  • Myasthenia Gravis
  • Neuro Infections (Meningitis, Encephalitis)
  • Demyelinating disorders (Multiple Sclerosis, Neuro myelitis Optical)

NEUROSURGERY

The Division of Neurosurgery consists of a team of highly competent and dedicated neurosurgeons with rich experience in Cerebrovascular, Functional, Neuro-Oncology, Pediatric neurosurgery, peripheral nerves and trauma. We have two dedicated neurosurgery operating rooms, which are equipped with state of the art technology like Carl Zeises,Vario M700 operating microscope, Midas Rex Drill, dedicated C-Arm, Muranaka operating table, Martin cautery system, Hanaulux operating lights,Neuro navigation etc. We offer services for in-patients and out-patients round the clock. We perform minimally invasive cranial and spinal surgery regularly. We also perform transsphenoidal, transnasal surgeries. We have one the busiest neurosurgical practices in Hyderabad. SPINE SURGERY

We have very experienced team consisting of neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons to evaluate and treat various spinal disorders. Our hospital is one of the very few hospitals in the world where neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons manage spinal disorders as a team.

  • CONGENITAL SPINE DISORDERS
  • including meningoele or its variants , split cord malformation , scoliosis & tethered cord syndrome
  • SPINE TRAUMA
  • Surgical neural decompression & fusion are routinely done various types of vertical fractures & dislocation spinal cord injuries are managed.
  • DEGENERATIVE SPINE DISORDERS
  • Minimally invasive laminectomy ,discectomy, fusious are done. Lateral approaches to spinal disorders are routinely used.
  • SPINAL TUMOR AND NEOPLASM
  • All varieties of spinal tumors including intra medullary & intradural tumors are treated.
  • MINIMALLY SPINE SURGERY
  • Most spinal procedures, where ever appropriate are done minimally invasive through the use of a tube, endoscope and microscope. Patients usually leave the same day or the following day after these procedures. Procedures like kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty are performed regularly.
  • SPINE DEFORMITIES
  • We have a fellowship trained neurosurgeon and an fellowship orthopedic surgeon who perform surgeries for scoliosis and kyphosis regularly. The availability of advanced high speed drill, Medtronic Stylus Legend, has greatly helped in these surgeries.

ORTHOPEDICS

Orthopedics is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries and diseases of your body's musculoskeletal system. This complex system includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves and allows you to move, work and be active. Once devoted to the care of children with spine and limb deformities, orthopedics now cares for patients of all ages, from newborns with clubfeet to young athletes requiring arthroscopic surgery to older people with arthritis. And anybody can break a bone.

JOINT REPLACEMENT

joint replacement surgery is removing a damaged joint and putting in a new one. A joint is where two or more bones come together, like the knee, hip, and shoulder. The surgery is usually done by a doctor called an orthopedic (pronounced or-tho-PEE-dik) surgeon. Sometimes, the surgeon will not remove the whole joint, but will only replace or fix the damaged parts.

RHEUMATOLOGY

Rheumatic diseases (rheumatism) are painful conditions that affect millions. These diseases cause inflammation, swelling, and pain in the joints or muscles. Some rheumatic diseases like osteoarthritis are the result of "wear and tear" to the joints. Other rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, happen when the immune system goes haywire; the immune system attacks the linings of joints, causing joint pain, swelling, and destruction. Almost any joint can be affected in rheumatic disease, but the causes are known in only a few types.
